Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together.
- In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients: milk, warm water, softened butter, vinegar, vanilla extract, and egg.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients and stir until just blended.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
Baking
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool before serving.
Notes
Serve plain, dusted with powdered sugar, or topped with frosting. Pairs well with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Can be stored covered at room temperature for up to three days or in the refrigerator for a week. For longer storage, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and freeze for up to three months.
