- In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
- In another bowl, warm the milk and melt the butter.
- Dissolve the yeast in the warm milk mixture and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add the milk mixture and beaten egg to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
- Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough and cut it into doughnut shapes.
- Let them rise again for 30 minutes.
- Fry in hot oil until golden brown on both sides.
- Drain on paper towels and enjoy!
Notes
Doughnuts are best served fresh. You can enjoy them plain or with powdered sugar. Alternatively, add sprinkles or drizzle with chocolate for extra fun. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
