  • 7 grams baker’s yeast Active dry yeast can be used as a substitute
  • 5 tablespoons sugar Adjust according to taste
  • 1 cup milk Warm milk to activate yeast
  • 1 whole egg Large egg for binding
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk and yeast; let it sit for 10 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add melted butter, egg, and the yeast mixture; knead to form a dough.
  4. Let dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough, cut into doughnut shapes, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer, and fry the doughnuts until golden brown on each side.
  2. Drain on paper towels, and enjoy!

Notes

Doughnuts are best served warm. Experiment with different toppings like chocolate and sprinkles!
