- Lightly grease your slow cooker for easier cleanup.
- Add the chicken in a single layer if possible and sprinkle a little pepper over the top.
Mixing the Sauce
- Add the cream cheese in chunks, then spoon in the cream of chicken soup.
- Sprinkle the Italian seasoning mix over everything, add the butter and pour in a small splash of chicken broth.
Cooking
- Cook on LOW for about 4 to 6 hours or HIGH for 2 to 3 hours, but LOW is recommended.
Finish
- Once cooked through, use two forks to gently break up the chicken or leave it whole, and stir well to smooth the sauce.
- If the sauce is too thick, add more broth, if too thin, let it sit uncovered for a few minutes to thicken.
Notes
Serve with something that soaks up the sauce, like pasta, rice, or mashed potatoes. It also pairs well with a simple green side like salad or steamed vegetables.
