Dough Ingredients
  • 1.5 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 ea egg
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, dissolve the instant yeast in lukewarm water. Add brown sugar and stir. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour, cinnamon, salt, and sugar. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and beaten egg. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the dough and cut into strips. Twist them into donut shapes.
Frying
  1. Heat oil in a pan for frying. Fry the donuts until golden brown on both sides.
  2. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Serving
  1. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.

Notes

Make sure the water is lukewarm for yeast activation. Knead well for fluffy donuts and monitor oil temperature while frying.
