  • 1 head cabbage Choose a medium-sized cabbage for better leaf consistency.
  • 1 cup cooked rice Use any type of cooked rice.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) Feel free to adjust the type of cheese based on preference.
  • 1 egg Bind the filling together.
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions Add more for a stronger flavor, if desired.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Topping Ingredients
  • 2 cups marinara sauce Any tomato-based sauce can be used.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Drizzle over rolls before baking.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Carefully remove the leaves from the cabbage head and blanch them in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine cooked rice, cheese, egg, onions, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Place a spoonful of the filling onto each cabbage leaf and roll them tightly.
  2. Arrange the rolls in a baking dish and pour marinara sauce over them.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil.
  4. Cover with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  5. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

Serve hot, adding fresh herbs like parsley or basil for flavor. Pairs well with a side salad or crusty bread. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
